Staying at this place was super cool! The location was mind-blowing, central but away from the noise, which was jaw-dropping! The traditional Japanese house was cozy, and even though the bathrooms weren't the cleanest, it was okay for three days! The staff. The neighborhood was tranquil, and I loved walking along the pretty Kamo river. The property had a nice bar/lounge area with a fridge, and they even provided free green tea and coffee, wow! The Japanese-style rooms with futons and air conditioning were simple yet comfortable. I highly recommend choosing a smaller room on the second floor for a better experience, as the first-floor rooms could be a bit fusty. it was an awesome stay with great value and a cozy atmosphere.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The common room was nice, and the staff were young and friendly. The location was convenient, as it was only a 10-minute walk from the main train station and close to bus stops. It was also nicely close to the river, which made for a pleasant atmosphere. The hotel facilities were great, with a little bar and a fridge for guests, as well as free green tea and coffee. The cleanliness of the tatami in the sleeping room was impressive, and it was a cool experience to sleep on the floor. Additionally, the staff member at the reception/bar spoke excellent English and was able to answer all of my questions.
Nothing not to love.

The staff at this guest house were incredibly helpful and made our stay very comfortable. They helped us book a taxi and communicated with us in English as we couldn't speak Japanese. We felt very welcomed and at ease during our time there. one of the guests even showed us around and helped us find our room, which was a nice gesture.

During our stay at Tomori, we were pleasantly surprised by the unique Japanese-style private rooms. The futons provided a comfortable and authentic sleeping experience. The hostel's location in a quiet part of Kyoto near the canal added to the overall tranquility of our stay. Additionally, the young staff at Tomori were friendly and attentive, ensuring that our needs were met. We also appreciated the little bar with a fridge for guests, offering complimentary green tea and coffee. Despite a few minor drawbacks such as the slightly smelly rooms and limited ventilation in the shower rooms, overall, I would recommend this hostel for a budget-friendly and culturally immersive stay in Kyoto.
